About the Doctors

  

Garry Gast, D.D.S.

Dr. Garry Gast has been practicing orthodontics in Marin since 1978. After graduating from Redwood High School, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Oregon and his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Detroit, Mercy. After practicing general dentistry in Tiburon, he attended UC San Francisco and received his Certificate in Orthodontics. He is a past president of the Marin County Dental Society and served as chairman of the Ethics Committee for 13 years. For the past decade, Dr. Gast has been an Associate Clinical Professor in the orthodontic department at the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry.

Dr. Gast is a member of the American Association of Orthodontics and a member of the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontics. A long-time Rotarian, he is past president of the Ignacio Rotary Club.

He serves on the Board of Directors of Rotaplast, an international organization that provides cleft palate and cleft lip surgery for children of third world countries. He has treated cleft palate and cleft lip patients in Bolivia,Venezuela and Mexico

Dr. Gast is an avid sailor, and enjoys skiing and fly-fishing.

Robert Griffin, D.D.S.

Dr. Robert Griffin has been practicing orthodontics since 1968. Expert in all phases of orthodontics, he focuses on early prevention and has a special interest in helping patients with TMJ problems. Dr. Griffin has written extensively on various orthodontic topics and has been published in the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontics Journal as well as other dental publications.

Dr. Griffin is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontists, a member of the American Association of Orthodontists and a member of the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontics. He is a member of the Pierre Fouchard Honorary Society and has been an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Pacific School of Dentistry since 1980. Dr. Griffin attended the University of Colorado, received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree from Northwestern University, had an oral surgery internship at Georgetown University, then practiced oral surgery in the U.S. Navy for two years. He then attended Columbia University where he received his Certificate in Orthodontics.

Dr. Griffin has served as an orthodontic consultant for the Craniofacial Panel at Children’s Hospital in Oakland and presently serves with Dr. Gast on the Marin County Dental Care Foundation.

Dr. Griffin’s hobbies include fly-fishing and racing a vintage sports car.

Carol Bongiovanni, D.M.D.

Dr. Carol Bongiovanni joined Drs. Gast and Griffin’s practice in 1999. She earned her Doctorate of Medicinal Dentistry from Tufts University in 1993 and orthodontic certification in 1995, also at Tufts University. She is a member of the American Association of Orthodontics, Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontics and the Marin County Dental Society. She does volunteer work for the Dental Care Foundation, providing the Bay Area’s underserved children with orthodontic care. Dr. Bongiovanni is Adjunct Professor at the University of Pacific School of Dentistry in the orthodontics department.

“Dr. B,” as she is known by her patients, is an avid hiker and rock climber who has summited Mt. Rainier, as well as Mt. Shasta, Half Dome and Mt. Whitney. She also loves skiing and is an incredible baker. Just ask her staff.
